With the lockdown in place and shopping delivery slots being saved for those that are vulnerable, many of us are finding that we are having to venture back out into the shops for food shopping.
Personally, I find shopping online much easier when it comes to manage both my budget and my meals. I can order exactly what I want and keep an eye on the price as I go. But how do you make sure that you don’t over spend whilst in the supermarket?
Take a list
Make sure that you do all your meal planning before you hit the shops. Prepare your list and take it with you. I would go so far as to research prices online so that you know exactly which versions of the food you are after.
Don’t go hungry
You are guaranteed to buy stuff you don’t need if you go food shopping when you are hungry. Therefore, I recommend that you have a meal and then go shopping immediately after. That way you are less likely to give in to temptation.
Use scan as you shop
Lots of big supermarkets now have the scan as you shop feature which means you can total up your food as you go. This is a fab way of making sure you are in budget as you walk around and it saves you going through the checkout faff.
